Vince Belnome is nominated for induction for his outstanding achievements as a baseball player. He was a three-time Most Valuable Player at Coatesville High School hitting a remarkable .557 in his senior season and setting a school career batting average record of .490. He is Coatesville’s career leader in runs scored (96) and doubles (30).

His play at Coatesville earned Vince a baseball scholarship to West Virginia University where he continued to excel. He set a single season school record his junior year with 84 RBI, while hitting for a .418 batting average. He finished the season 3rd nationally with 1.53 RBI per game, 6th in total RBI and 13 th with a .519 on base percentage. For his accomplishments, Vince was named an All-American by College Baseball Insider.

Vince was drafted in the June 2009 amateur draft by the San Diego Padres. In his first season of professional baseball, he was named to both the Northwest and Midwest Minor League All-Star teams. By 2012 Vince had risen to the Triple-A level starting for the Padres’ Tucson affiliate. In December 2012, he was traded to the Tampa Bay Rays.

In 2013, Vince played for Tampa Bay’s Durham Triple-A club in the International League. He was named the team’s Most Valuable Player by hitting .300, and finishing second in the league in both on-base percentage (.408) and runs scored (77). Vince started in the International League All-Star game.

In 2014, Vince made a brief appearance with Tampa Bay in Major Leagues. A highlight was his base hit off Cy Young award winner and future Hall of Fame pitcher, Max Scherzer.

Since leaving professional baseball Vince resides in Coatesville with his wife Abby and their two sons, Bowen and Briggs.
